GREAT STATE TAILGATE

Helpful information from MSU (www.firstgame.msu.edu)

LOCATION: Tailgate location is subject on parking availability. Therefore, we'll do it in this order (if #1 is full, we'll go to #2, if #2 is full, then #3, etc.):

#1 - west of Student Services, east of Old Horticulture, across from Berkey Hall.
#2 - east and behind the Agriculture Building.
#3 - across from Cedar Village, south of Snyder/Phillips hall, near Baker Hall and north/along side of the Red Cedar River.

IDENTIFICATION: #1, 2, 3 are all in the same general location, just east of the ES' old tailgating spot behind Morrill Hall. Look for the white canopy, state flag, state grill, and beer/martini flags, and the "GRAND RIVER CONNECTION" signs...

INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS AND TAILGATERS

There are new policies affecting tailgating this year for both the
Wilson Tennis Court tailgate area and the entire campus. Open alcohol
has been banned from campus except on tailgating Saturdays and other designated events. Alcohol may only be consumed by those of the legal age and may not be consumed prior to the opening of the tailgate.

TAILGATING 791 TIMES

Kickoff time Tailgate start time
12 or 1 pm 7 am
3:30 pm 9 am
7 pm 1 pm

Tailgating will be allowed up to three hours after the conclusion of each game.

OPEN CONTAINER ORDINANCE
Open Container Ordinance
Spartan fans are reminded of a new "open container" ordinance, adpoted earlier this year by the MSU Board of Trustees. The ordinance bans open containers of alcohol on campus and in all public areas of campus buildings. However, on home football game days, enforcement of the ordinance will be suspended on campus for those of legal drinking age, during the hours parking lots are open for tailgating. Munn Field remains alcohol-free, as do the pedestrian areas immediately adjacent to Spartan Stadium as well as all public areas of campus buildings.

STUDENT TAILGATE AREA
The Wilson Tennis Court area has been designated as the "Student
Tailgate Area." You will no longer be able to line up the night prior
for a parking space in this area. Instead, you may go to
www.tailgate.asmsu.msu.edu and sign up for the electronic
tailgate lottery. Only CURRENT MSU undergrads and grad students may
sign up for the lottery. You will be asked to provide your student ID
number as well as the license plate number of the vehicle you will
drive to the tailgate. You may sign up for any home game at anytime,
however the next home game will be closed from the lottery at 8 AM the
Wednesday before the game. If you win the lottery, you will receive a
notification e-mail late Wednesday or early Thursday. If you win the lottery, you will be instructed to go to room 328 of Student Services to pick up your pass. You must bring your Student ID and $15 in cash for the pass. The price has not changed from last year.

Finally, there will be new features and entertainment at the Wilson
Tennis Courts. The Intramural Department will be sponsoring a variety of games that require you to sign up during the first hour of
tailgating (7AM-8AM for noon games, 9AM-10AM for 3:30 games, 1PM-2PM
for night games) and show your student ID. The winner of these games will receive a variety of prizes such as football tickets, Spartan Athletic gear etc. There will also be a DJ who will be playing a
variety of music (and the fight song!) during the tailgate, and food
vendors selling concessions at discounted prices.
